Complaint towards European Commission regarding Ammunition Regulation
MEP Tomas Zdechovsky submitted an official complaint to Mr. Virginijus Sinkevicius, EU Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, and to Mr. Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for Internal Market regarding EC’s procedure of adopting the proposal of regulation on the use of lead in ammunition.
"I am deeply concerned that the principles of good governance, in particular transparency and impartiality, which are the cornerstone of the functioning of the European Commission, are not sufficiently taken into account in the process. Therefore, I ask both responsible Commissioners to explain the actions mentioned in the letter and also to make clear what concrete measures will be introduced to avoid such practice again in the future," clarifies Zdechovský, who is a member of the European Parliament Intergroup for biodiversity, hunting and countryside. Zdechovsky also submitted parliamentary questions to EC regarding potential ammunition ban.
